Best booking app for mobile dog groomers
A mobile groomer is a route business wearing a grooming business as a costume. Most booking tools optimise for chairs, not vans.
What a van actually needs
- Address on the booking — with a map link the client can confirm.
- Travel buffer between stops — 15-30 minutes depending on the city.
- Offline tolerance — you will lose signal in a driveway.
- Deposits — a no-show at a house costs you the drive, not just the slot.
- Photo history per pet — cuts the "what did we do last time" call.
Tool fit
Fresha
Free, works well for the calendar and deposits, weak on routing. You will keep a separate route plan. Fine for 1-3 dogs a day, painful at six.
Booksy
Marketplace discovery can fill gaps for a new mobile business, but the per-staff fee and chair-oriented flow mean you still plan the route elsewhere.
Square Appointments
Best if you already take card payments on the van. Location fields and client notes are usable; travel buffers are manual.
None of the three does routing well. Most mobile groomers run booking + a route app (or a shared calendar) and accept the seam.
Practical setup that works
Deposit at booking, always
Mobile no-shows are expensive: fuel, time and a slot you cannot refill. Charge a deposit for every new client and card-on-file for regulars.
Service windows, not exact times
Offer "morning (9-12)" and "afternoon (13-17)" windows. Clients accept it, and you stop lying about arrival times.
Text before you drive
An automated "on my way, 15 minutes" message cuts gate-code calls and no-answers dramatically.
What I would do
Start on Fresha (free) with deposits on, windows instead of exact slots, and a simple route plan in Google Maps. Move to Booksy only if you need the marketplace to find clients.
